Poetry

The word ‘algidity’ means ‘cold and clammy’. At the time I was writing this collection, my life was full of uncertainty and a reliance on the people around me. There was hardly any independence. I was lost, trying to find my own way under a roof that wasn’t mine. This poetry helped me through, and helped me to find myself at a time when I felt like I was being suffocated. Not suffocated by the people around me, but suffocated by myself. I kept trying to be someone I wasn’t, and it wasn’t until I moved when I started to gain independence and find my way. This collection, Algidity, is about me finding my way, with cold and clammy hands.

The collection itself is of an 108-poem length spanning different ideas, troubles, issues, and lifetime woes as I tried to find who I am today.

This collection is available in an ePub and PDF on Armida Warrior and Etsy as a zip file, containing both versions.  Available to read on all eReaders, including computer reading apps, smartphones, and tablets.

Numerical Fate

Fate is numbers
counting down time

an hourglass we
ride the sand
down in.

Safety is fate, a fate
we control.

We are the sand,
riding flames
in the undertow.

Atomic Bomb

love is stronger than the
atomic bomb, so shower me in hate,
my skin and scabs just a burn I
breathe in deeper than your war cry.

love is stronger than the atomic
bomb, so take my hand and set
it off,

set it off,
set it off.

I am stronger than the atomic bomb,
so set it off.

Glass Ceiling

A lie is invisible
until you see it in the mirror,
staring back with angry, tired
eyes, waiting for the glass
underfoot to stop
cutting your feet,

but that glass never
goes away,
and you have no shoes.

Two Snakes

Dead before I live,
alive I am to live
passed the past
doors of my mind,
waiting for the python
to strike and squeeze
this snake
until my eyes
are bleeding.
