Hypnagogia is about how my wakefulness is my dreaming and my dreaming is my wakefulness. It’s about how I create in order to heal those broken parts of myself, those broken parts that sometimes only feel more broken, which adds to the painful confusion. As an artist, the creative parts of me are now able to look around and communicate with what they believe in and what they don’t believe in, what they want and what they don’t want, and how I relate to myself and how I don’t relate to myself.
Sometimes, the only way to heal is to face your traumas through the creation of art.
The collection itself is of an 105-poem length spanning different ideas, troubles, issues, and excerpts exploring dreams becoming reality, and the obstacles that get in the way.
