Poetry
Life is one giant math equation. It’s measured by time, space, currency, and many other measures done by mathematics. It could even be said that it’s many, giant equations piling on top of one another, fighting for dominance in everyday society, and everyday minds. Even cooking is math. Tying your shoes and decorating your house involves geometry. This is everywhere, even in how we string words together. Each poem might not be about math, or use mathematical words or terms, but in my mind, every poem is still an equation.
There are 93 poems of varying length in this collection.
This collection is available in an ePub and PDF here, on Armida Warrior, and over on Etsy as a zip file, containing both versions. Available to read on all eReaders, including computer reading apps, smartphones, and tablets. You can print out the PDF to read in hard copy.
Calculator's Calculations
calculators do not
calculate, numbers
do not multiply,
division inside my
mind, a tongue that
can add and subtract
eyes creating equations
with algebraic intentions,
a promise is an equal
sign that narrows it
down to
1a = 2c
Drowning Flag
great white flag, flying
upside down, sparks
of red on red crumpled
ground, splatters of
crimson, great white flag
taken in the wind, forever,
forever, forever down,
drowning in crimson
drowning in the ground
Heavy Shoulders
heavy shoulders hold a head, drowning
in funnels filled with water, drowning
in sounds and cottonmouth brain
collapsing, a floor a mattress,
bruising shoulders and bruising
ears, sounds a cacophony
forever we abide
Typing Tap Tap
running out of sentences, typed
and then destroyed, delete button
a part of perfection, waiting
to feel unignored
typing, then deleting, tapping, tapping
away, what part of me understands
notions and motions left to sway?
a promise of intent, meant
to create a heart, a soul, a spirit…
… but never able to be unignored, for
a voice is deaf when unable to sing
