Cartooning, for me, is as akin to journaling as poetry is. When I don’t know what I’m feeling, and cannot put it into words, I sketch the demon that is haunting me. Sometimes, I sketch the same demon over and over again, as if attempting to find my inner self, or uncover the part of me that’s in pain. Other times, each cartoon, cartoons I like to call ‘caricatures’, are completely different from one another — as if the triggers that had me drawing them were in multitude, and as if all of my demons had different faces, different names, different hobbies and personalities.
