How To Drink More Water

Sometimes, the best reminder is looking up, and seeing an adorable reminder for fluid right in front of your face. Some people might think I’m talking about a sticky note that says, “Drink more water.” Nope. Rather than a sticky note, what about an adorable water bottle, water vessel, or mug? If you collect them, you’ll have enough to go through to brighten your day, and make sure you stay hydrated.

Anything that makes you smile when you look at it, and can hold fluid, counts. It’ll inspire you to take a sip, or many sips, throughout the day. Keeping a water vessel near you, at all times, will not only have a smile creeping across your face when you see it, but will have you grabbing it for a drink every time you do.

Keeping and collecting them gives you more ways to enjoy water. The more you collect, the more you’ll be able to reach for something different that you love. You can find vessels almost anywhere. There are countless places that sell mugs, or other drinking vessels. If you’re like me, you might want to create infused water sometimes. There’s also something nice about spring water.

For me, filtered water has always tasted more chemical than like water. I live in a city that sources its tap from a magical place called, ‘Six Mile Creek’. It’s all the beauty of spring water, spring water that I love, coming through my home’s pipes. It’s this that I’ll always be drinking when home, in my city. You can taste how clean it is, and it tastes like spring water. That’s something I will always pride my home city on.

If you’re not like me, finding sprig water dripping from your tap is probably a dream, not a reality. That doesn’t mean you should stop drinking water. It just means you need to find a different source of it. My father lives outside my city, and has sulfur water. It not only smells gross, but it tastes gross, and isn’t as balanced as the natural spring water I’m used to drinking. If you’re unable to have fresh water the way he isn’t, then finding other sources is super important.

Once you’ve found your source, encouraging yourself to drink more, refilling your cup countless times a day, in something special, will help you without you knowing it. You’ll stay hydrated because, in the back of your mind, you’ll be doing a happy dance every time you pick up your water vessel. The more you pick up your water vessel, the more you’ll have to refill it. The more you refill it, the more the reward center of your brain will light up. You’ll be releasing endorphins based on the fact that you’re continually refilling something you love.

The more vessels you collect, the more various ways you’ll be able to make yourself happy while refilling your beverage container. You might have mugs, or water bottles, or tea cups, or water pitchers, or, really, anything that can hold water. If you get tired of water, try dropping a couple of cucumber slices in there, or lime wedges, and letting it sit. The flavor will get stronger throughout the day, and, it’ll still count as water.

In The States, it’s called ‘infused water’. In most other places, it’s called ‘tea’, or a type of tea.

The idea is still the same: your feeding your body the nutrients it needs in a clean, easy way. Instead of squeezing some sort of ‘flavor enhancer’ in what used to be clean, you’ll be able to drink a drink, updated and enhanced without any cancerous chemicals filling up the human body. I don’t believe in these chemicals that come in pouches or squeeze bottles because they’re not natural, and, if you’re how I used to be with flavored waters myself, you’ll put more than one packet in there.

We’re trying to be healthy, not give ourselves cancer.

If you’re like many people, drinking out of something cute each day can only do so much. This is why updating your flavor choices is super important. For ideas, I have a list at the end of this article of different ways to get all of your water in, while still having different flavors cleanse your palate.

These two different pieces go hand in hand. The flavor is the reward for drinking from your vessel. Or, if you have amazing water at the ready, you might just stand there at the sink and chug from your filled mug. I do.

I also just purchased an adorable, vintage water pitcher that I plan to fill with water… and refill over and over again as I pour it into my favorite mugs over and over again and drink from over and over again.

I’m such a mug person that I forget water infusions are possible.

For anyone else, there’s a list below of ideas:

Apple slices and cinnamon sticks

Cucumber slices

Cucumber slices and lime wedges

Hulled strawberries and mint

Lemon wedges

Lime wedges

Lime wedges and basil

Lemon wedges, lime wedges, and shaved ginger
