Easy Jewelry Creation

The easiest way to create jewelry is with stretchy cord and beads. There’s no bending of wire, no needing to learn how to use rhinestones, and you can create infinite designs that are yours, yours, and only yours.

All you need to do is cut a length of stretchy cord to the size of a necklace, bracelet, or what have you, fill it with beads of your choice in pattern of your choice, and knot it once filled.

You can create armies of bracelets and necklaces. If you so wish, you can have an entire jewelry armoire filled with pieces you’ve made by hand. Nobody else will have them. They’re yours, yours, and only yours because you made them for yourself instead of getting them from what I like to call, ‘a jewelry mill’.

If you live somewhere where it’s impossible to find supplies, there’s always online places such as Amazon or Etsy. Or, you could be like me, and frequent JoAnn Fabrics and Michael’s as much as you please, collecting big box store beads and supplementing rarities whenever you can.

Or, you can be DIY-obsessed like I am most times, and you can collect straws. Why straws? You can cut each straw to be as long and how short as you want, and use those as beads. You can even mix a little acrylic paint with baking soda and paint the straw before cutting it to size. Spraying it with fixative is a good idea, or use a little Modge Podge on it to secure the paint, making sure it doesn’t end up becoming gummy.

You might even find supplies for jewelry when you receive packages in the mail. Sometimes, your packages might come with packing materials that would be excellent for creating necklaces, bracelets, rings, or anything else your mind can come up with. These supplies could be anywhere. If you keep your eyes open and your creativity accepting, you could come up with ideas for your designs that no one else has.

It all has to do with what you want to create for yourself, and the types of jewelry you’d like to wear.

Again, bracelets and necklace are the easiest with cord and beads, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t or can’t go around looking for ways to turn wire in rings or add necklace chains to pendants you somehow find, or make, yourself.

When creating your own, the possibilities are endless. The more ways you have to make, the more possibilities there are.

Don’t let this stop you or deter you.

Just go to your nearest craft store and pick up whatever you can find, bring it home, and set an intention to make what you love from what you’ve found. We all deserve one-of-a-kind pieces, and, if you, like me, are broke, you don’t really have the money for that. This is where your creativity comes in, making yourself your own wears.

Everyone deserves to have something special in their repertoire armoire.
