Purposeful Mismatched Socks

Every single person on this planet has worn mismatched socks at least once. Many people swear that having them not match brings good luck. Regardless of whether you believe in luck or not, sometimes mixing them can be a good thing. If you’re like me, and you’re obsessed with socks, mixing and matching can make your collection bigger.

What’s fun about this is finding two socks in your existing collection that already look good together, but aren’t matches. This takes creativity, and if people have been wearing mismatched earrings on purpose, then we can do the same thing with socks.

Companies are even beginning to sell mismatched socks as a pair now. If they’re doing it, why not go through your own collection and see what you can do now?

Taking the initiative with your closet is a great way to turn what you already love into what you love more. The more creative you are with what you have, the more you’ll love what you have. Creativity helps build a relationship with your repertoire.

Clothing must always look like art supplies, as well as whatever else is in your closet. You are your own canvas. Dress yourself in art.

Style is not the act of being fashionable. Style is personal. Being fashionable is based on trends or what designers you wear. Style is about who you are. It’s about wearing your insides on your outsides. Being fashionable is about having your eyes on popularity, rather than having your eyes set on who you want to be. Developing your own personal style is about who you are, and learning how to show the world that person.

Fashion itself is the tool you use to find and show who you are and what you believe in. Style is the act of using fashion to show the world who you are, one outfit at a time.

Wear your mismatched socks the way you mismatch your earrings. You only have two feet, and you only have two ears. Allow yourself this creativity. Even the smallest details count. Once you allow yourself even the small details, more freedom will follow.

Style is the freedom of being yourself, no matter who that may be.

Allow yourself those mismatched socks. Mismatch them in a way that fits who you are as a human. Allow your closet to show the world who you are.
