Blackberry & Strawberry Water

Water infusions are one of the simplest ways to create a beverage to drink. All you need is water, a couple different types of berries, like used here, and a container to put it in. The longer the fruit sits, the more its flavor infuses. As long as you don’t leave it overnight, this is a great way to drink water throughout the day. If you do leave it overnight, you’ll soon know why it’s no longer easily drinkable. I hope you try this on a hot summer’s day, or at your next family cookout.

Ingredients:
1 gallon water
10 large strawberries
15 large blackberries
Directions:
Fill a large water pitcher or a drink dispenser with a gallon of water. Slice the tops off the strawberries on a cutting board or plate. Discard the tops. Slice strawberries into rounds. Slide strawberry rounds from cutting board into the pitcher. Slice blackberries in half on cutting board. Slide blackberry halves into the pitcher. With a wooden spoon, or whisk, stir the fruit into the water for several seconds, then let sit to infuse. You can put the water in the fridge, or keep it out, to infuse the flavors. Wait at least an hour for the water to infuse, then begin to enjoy.
Serving Suggestions:
Crab cakes, lobster tail, or grilled shrimp.
