Double Sugar Popcorn

I love experimenting on popcorn. There are so many different types of toppings that could be consumed on it. Sometimes, it’s fun to go savory, which feels much less classic than today’s recipe feels. This one is more of a dessert, and goes along in the same vein as quite a few of my other popcorn recipes have gone. I wanted to share this one. The texture from the graininess of the sugar mixture is slightly addictive. You’ve been warned. Sometimes, popcorn doubles as a meal. This recipe? Popcorn is fully realized as a dessert-slash-snack. I hope you enjoy making this recipe as much as I enjoyed developing it!

Armida Warrior | Kitchen | On The Menu | Double Sugar Popcorn | Popped popcorn drizzled with brown and coconut sugars

Ingredients:

1 bag microwavable popcorn

1 stick butter

4 tablespoons brown sugar

4 tablespoons coconut sugar

Directions:

Microwave the popcorn as per instructions.

Chop the butter into pats and plop into a microwavable mug. Microwave butter until melted, about one minute. Stir until it’s fully melted, if it’s not already. Add the brown sugar and the coconut sugar, stir until dissolved. Microwave for thirty seconds. Remove from microwave. Stir.

Pour the top layer of the sugar mixture a bit at a time over the popcorn, stirring the popcorn between each bit, to make sure it gets over most of it. There should be a liquid, sugary mixture as a layer over the grainy, sugary mixture. Then, drizzle or spoon the grainy, sugar mixture over the popcorn. Keep tossing the popcorn to get it between all the nooks and crannies.

Consume immediately.

Serving Instructions:

Chocolate milk, vanilla milkshake, or bourbon.
