Honey & Vanilla Apples

Every fall, the first thing I want to do is eat as many foods made out of apples as I can. Everything from apple cider donuts to apple cider itself to apples with caramel to apple pie to apple cake. My mind and my mouth only want apples. So, I buy a few of them every week, hoping to make foods and recipes that showcase their flavors, tanginess, and crunchiness the best and the most. There’s something about how juicy and crunchy they are that pairs well with eating alone, or eating drizzled with a nice, sugary bit of honey. Right after that, for a little extra texture and a contrast between sweetnesses, sprinkle on some turbinado sugar. It might feel or seem or taste like overkill, but sometimes overkill tastes good.

Armida Warrior | Kitchen | On The Menu | Honey And Vanilla Apples | Chopped apples drizzled with honey and sugar

Mix the honey and vanilla in a mug. Freshly grate nutmeg on top. Stir with a fork. Drizzle honey mixture over apple slices with a spoon. Take the pinch of turbinado sugar and sprinkle on top. Enjoy immediately.
