Winter Strawberry & Nutella Toast

Most people don’t know this, but there are summer strawberries and winter strawberries. The summer ones tend to be larger and sweeter, when the ones in winter tend to be slightly more tart and smaller. Either way, making this Nutella toast is super simple, possibly one of the simplest recipes — like, avocado toast-type simple. There are two ingredients, however, that elevate this stupidly simple toast. The first? Freshly grated nutmeg. The second? A pinch of sea salt for each slice. This is such an easy recipe it’s almost not a recipe. I almost didn’t record it, but I did end up doing so because it’s just that good. For a while, I’ve been a bit obsessed with strawberries and Nutella on toast. It only make sense that it would end up with a little bit of nutmeg and a little bit of salt.

Ingredients:
2 slices potato bread
As much Nutella for each slice as you like
4 winter strawberries
Freshly grated nutmeg
Pinch sea salt, one for each slice
Directions:
Toast the bread on a medium-high setting. Slather with Nutella once popped. Slice strawberries into rounds then slice across round to make them ‘half-moons’. Grate a little nutmeg over each slice. Sprinkle a pinch of salt on each slice, just enough to enhance flavors. Consume immediately.
Serving suggestion: Hot cocoa, chocolate milk, or whole milk.
