Greeting Card Paper Coasters

This might seem kind of ridiculous, but I’m not the only person who accumulates greeting cards this much, right? You get them for birthdays, Christmas, Easter, and most holidays. They are always accumulating, and, if you’re like me, you feel like it’s a cardinal sin throwing them out. However, there is a solution, and it’s stupidly simple: turn them into drink coasters. You can keep the side of the card that has the note from your loved one on it, and use the adorable front of the thing as a coaster. All you need is a ruler, some scissors, and patience. For these, the ones I made, I used old stationary cards I knew I’d never use. I hope you found this project as easy and as fun as I did!

Supplies:

Old greeting cards

Scissors

Ruler

Pen

Funky paper clips (for keeping them together)

Directions:

Tear the greeting card in half at the part where both cards meet, or, you can cut them in half to make it neater. Once you’re done, measure the back of the card, and, if possible, turn into a square big enough to be a coaster. If you can’t use the back of the card because it has writing on it, use something the size of what you want your coaster to be, and use that as a template instead. Whatever you’re using as a template, it should be a square, about 2-1/2”. Using your template, cut the fun halves of all the cards into coasters. Once done cutting into squares, keep together using a fun paper clip. You can find these at bookstores, office supplies stores, or craft stores.
