This is one of the very first cocktails I’ve made at my father’s in years. Sometimes, when people are in pain, it’s best to let them rest before you come back into their lives. I’ve been told, over and over again, that sometimes it’s best to let be what is to be. I’ve learned to change and evolve with the times, and this cocktail is a sign of that. Creating to create, and loving to live, this drink signifies a huge change in my life, and the independence I’ve learned to wield during this lifetime. My arts have evolved, and that includes my talent in mixology. It’s one thing that will always stay with me: how much my family has grown together and apart, in good ways and bad ways. Sometimes, you need a cocktail to tell the story. This is that cocktail.

Ingredients:
2 parts Hudson Whiskey NY
1 part Kirk & Sweeney Dominican Rum
1 part Pyrat
1 part St. Germaine
Directions:
Add ice about third of the way in a shaker. Add all alcohol, St. Germaine last. Shake until ice cold, but not sweating. Strain into a tumbler with a large, square ice cube. Enjoy immediately!
Serving Suggestion: Potato pancakes with sour cream, scallions, and bacon; filet mignon with cranberry compote; bacon sandwich made with sourdough.
