Bathing Suit Tops As Bras?

I was looking in my drawer the other day, and I realized I only had one real bra. It had padding, support, and fit perfectly. All of my other bras were either bralettes, or so destroyed you could hardly call them ‘lingerie’. When I purchase lingerie, it’s always more about function than form. It’s not about feeling pretty. It’s not about wooing anyone. What it’s about is the fact that I’m a female, and therefore need something to hold up my boobs. 

There were a couple of padded bathing suit tops in my drawers. I love bikinis. When you get the right one, they can make you feel good, rather than scared that you don’t look good. They can make you feel beautiful, confident, and sexy.

Apparently, that’s what good lingerie is also supposed to do, I just never had the privilege of being able to purchase any. Money is money, and, sometimes, certain things just don’t compute in my brain as ‘important’. 

Food is important.

Bras can wait.

But, as I was looking in my drawer, my eyes drifted over a bathing suit top that had dinosaurs all over it. I wanted to see whether it would work as a bra, and, it did. It supported me the way my one go-to did, was fully padded, and felt comfortable enough to wear.

As someone who is constantly trying to find multiple ways to use an everyday object, or objects, this discovery not only made my outfit come together in a fun, cohesive way, but it also gave me the allowance to buy more swimsuits… and, in turn, buy more ‘bras’. The double usage of these things not only cuts cost, but also opens up what could be seen as ‘lingerie’.

How many times will you go to a store and NOT find bras with dinosaurs on them? 

Creating one from a bathing suit top, or tops, opens up your ability to have fun designs you’ll probably never see on a normal bra. Not only will your under garments be more unique, but they’ll also be more functional. Uniqueness along with function? Pretty sure that’s my main goal when reaching for an outfit, and now I have more ways to wear different pieces.

Now, all I need to do is collect bathing suits.
