Easy Pendant Necklace

Almost anything can be turned into a pendant. An old straw can slide on a piece of string, and can be knotted in the back. A singular bead can be slid onto a piece of twine, also knotted. You can find bracelet charms at a craft store, and slide one of them onto silk cord. Each of these are a necklace, and each of these are a pendant.

All you need is a jewel, and something to put it on. You might find that you’d like to turn trash into jewelry, or, you might go online and find something pretty that can be slid onto a string — something that would work as a pendant.

There are always two pieces to this type of necklace, and these pieces can be rather easy to find. Whether you turn garbage into treasure, or create jewelry from actual jewelry supplies, you’ll still end up with something beautiful, something you made, and, most likely, something no one else will have.

I’m always looking for little remnants to create jewelry out of: stretchy string from hospital masks, straws I can cut down to size and make into beads, and caps from smoothie pouches which, surprisingly, have holes in them that are fun to paint with gold paint and then hang from some sort of cord. Shoelaces without shoes and hoodie strings without hoodies are also excellent materials to use for necklaces.

It really depends on what you have, what you will have, and what you want to use.

As long as you like it, that’s all that matters. You’re the one who will be wearing it. And, expanding upon your repertoire of clothing and accessories you can make for yourself is a good way for not only self-expression, but for you to create what you will never find in stores. If you can find it in a store, there’s a good chance that there’s more than one of them out there in the ether.

What’s better than having a piece of jewelry that’s yours and no one else’s? Especially, a piece you made?

Whatever your supplies, whether you splice something together out of garbage or put it together with normal jewelry supplies, I hope you have fun monkeying around with making your own jewelry. There’s something very satisfying about creating things that suit your personality, your style, and you that are purely you because they came out of your mind and nobody else’s.

Remember: all you need is a string and something to put on that string.

It’s that easy.
