Missing An Earring

Everyone, male or female, who wears earrings, has gone through this: missing an earring. It doesn’t matter who you are. It doesn’t matter how careful you are with your belongings. It doesn’t matter whether you wear the same pair all the time or not. Everyone who wears earrings has lost at least one from a pair. It might be a lot easier to lose the backings to them — you know, the things that helps secure them to your ears —, but it’s also easy to lose the jewelry part.

Whether you drop one down the sink or not, chances are you’re going to lose an earring if you wear them.

This is where doing something fun with the one that’s leftover comes in.

Nobody says you can’t still wear them, the ones that are left behind. And, in this day and age, when mismatched earrings are in style, and have become a thing, all you need to do is find another one from your collection that looks good with the one that’s been leftover.

Don’t throw it out.

Find something that looks just as good with it as the one you lost.

Even if you don’t have an earring missing, you can take the time to mix and match them. If you mix and match your ear pieces, you can come up with infinite combinations of what to wear. Every single one is an ingredient to whatever outfit you come up with for that day, that night, or that event. Allowing yourself to be creative by being creative with what you didn’t lose will lead you to more creativity, and, because creativity breeds creativity, you’ll become that much more creative the more you attempt to expand your mind.

Becoming who you want to be is a part of that extension, but so is finding solutions to problems. Finding a solution to a missing earring, rather than believing it’s trash, is a part of self-evolution because you’re pushing yourself to solve something. As much as a pair of these jewelry pieces is important, it’s also important to recognize the freedom in still wearing them.

Yes, it is a bummer to lose one half of a favorite pair, but looking through your jewelry to find a way to wear what’s left is an excellent way to not only upcycle, but is also an excuse to be creative.

People love wearing mismatched socks.

Some people love wearing mismatched earrings.

Allowing yourself that freedom will allow you to expand your wardrobe. Who doesn’t want more ways to wear things?
