There are many different ways to use an object for a purpose other than what was originally intended. Objects may have a designated job, but it feels god to discover other ways they can be used. One of my favorite objects to do this with are the straps that come with purses. It depends on what it’s made from. Some are impossible to do this with, but others can definitely double as something else.

Utilizing purse straps as necklaces gives you many more pieces of jewelry for your jewelry box. The easiest necklaces to make from purse straps are the chain link ones, but that doesn’t mean other strap types aren’t usable. They are. It just takes a little imagination to figure out how to style them.

Imagination is the most vital component to personal style. If you can find multiple ways to use a certain accessory or piece of clothing, do it. I had a swivel chair once that needed a facelift, so I used a silk bathrobe I wasn’t using as a mock slipcover. The more ways you can figure out how to use what you already have, no matter its destination, the better. Allowing yourself that freedom will broaden your closet’s ability to clothe you. Creativity is the key trait you need to make your closet look larger than it is.

Using a purse straps a necklace is essentially the invention of a necklace. Each time you utilize a different purse strap, especially if you use it in different ways, you are inventing different pieces of jewelry.

Creativity isn’t just a necessity, it can also be an accessory. Exist to break the rules. The more you do, the more you can do with what you already have in your collection.
