The Baby Orange Cocktail

This cocktail is perfect for people who love oranges. Chunks of orange flesh, muddled as if it’s shaken with the rest of the cocktail, provides most of this drink’s flavor. With a slight hit of bourbon and honey, it’s a cocktail I made in the middle of February, in the aftermath of a snow storm. The dripping of icicles, and sweating of melting snow, created the path toward a summery invention. Don’t forget the garnish!

Ingredients:
1/4 large orange
2 parts Four Roses bourbon
1 part Barenjager honey liqueur
4 dashes Regan’s orange bitters
Directions:
Slice rind off of orange quarter. Cut rind into chunks. Slide each piece onto either a long toothpick, or a halved wooden skewer. Reserve for garnish.
Chop the orange quarter’s flesh into four, large pieces. Plop into shaker. Add ice halfway up. Add all liquor. Shake until ice cold and starting to sweat. Strain into tall martini glass.
Garnish drink with orange rinds on the toothpick.
