The Bed Rest Cocktail

I first made this cocktail at the tail end of me having the flu. After two days, spent in bed, an epiphany struck me over the head with a bottle of rye, and this cocktail was born. I waited until I could climb out of bed, do some personal matters, and come home to a cocktail that’s a little bit Manhattan and a little bit Old Fashioned. I love using lime instead of lemon, and my favorite honey liqueur. This will probably inspire many recipes of my own in the future, but, for right now, I hope you enjoy this cocktail as much as I did when I could finally climb out of bed.

Ingredients:
2 parts Old Overholt rye
1 part High West bourbon
1 part Barenjager honey liqueur
1/2 large lime, for juice and garnish
Directions:
Add ice halfway up a shaker. Add the whiskeys and the honey liqueur. Squeeze in juice from one half a lime. Shake until shaker is ice cold and almost sweating. Strain into a short tumbler.
Slice the used lime skin into strips and drop into the cocktail. Garnish with two shortened straws.
Serving Suggestions:
Bang bang shrimp, filet mignon, buffalo wings.
