The Mom's Gone Cocktail

This cocktail has a ridiculous amount of bourbon, and a ridiculous amount of citrus juice. I used two completely different bourbons, and lime and lemon. It might seem, by the ingredients, that this cocktail would be unbalanced, but try it anyway. The coconut sugar rounds everything out, and makes certain nothing is too strong. The first time I ever created this was when I was at my mother’s house, looking after plants and looking after a doggy. Following a bout of pure boredom, I set to work wandering through their liquor cabinet, and I found the below ingredients. At first, I thought this wasn’t going to work, but I kept persevering, and it came together on the first try. Toot toot. I hope you guys enjoy this recipe as much as I do.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 part Bardstown bourbon
1 part Basil Hayden bourbon
1/2 lime, for juice and garnish
1/2 lemon, for juice and garnish
1/2 tbsp brown coconut sugar
Directions:
With a fruit peeler, start at the base of the lemon, and peel about an inch of skin from the fruit. Do the same with the lime. Twist each one into small twists and slide onto a short skewer or toothpick, maintaining the twist. Set aside garnish for later.
Add ice to a short mixing glass. Pour in Bardstown and Basil Hayden bourbons. Half both the lemon and lime with a knife. Squeeze in one half lime. Squeeze in one half lemon. Scoop in the coconut sugar.
Stir with bar spoon until ice cold. Strain into stemmed wine glass. Top with garnish. Consume immediately.
