The Tuesday Night

There’s something special about staying over at my Dad’s house for a while, and it isn’t the fact that it’s really the only place I can make a cocktail. We have all of the equipment here: strainers, mixing glasses, bar spoons, shakers, and different drinkware. My mom’s house has some ingredients, but it’s not the full array of what is needed. ‘The Tuesday Night’ cocktail is an ode to takeout, my dad’s hip surgery, and the fact that I love our dog, Dembe. It’s an ode to the fact that making a cocktail at his house has become a fun pastime. That’s why I halved a fortune cookie and used it the halves as garnish. If you don’t have this type of glass, a regular champagne flute will work. It’s very much filled with absinthe, but the bourbon and vodka balance it out. This is one of my more alcoholic drinks, and it shows. Don’t worry, all of the hallucinogenics have been removed from today’s absinthe. If you like highly herbal cocktails, have some fun!

Ingredients:
1 part Smoke Lab vodka
1 part 1792 bourbon
1/2 part Rodnik’s absinthe
1/2 part St. George absinthe
Directions:
Add ice halfway up mixing glass. Add vodka and bourbon 1792. In the same measuring shot, add each absinthe halfway, and then dump into the mixing glass. Mix until drink is ice cold. Strain into flute glass. Garnish with two chopsticks and half of a fortune cookie on each stick. Discard of the fortune.
