The Limedicine

This is an unpopular opinion, but sometimes, if you have the right ingredients and mix it just enough, you can taste the different ingredients separately from one another. They each exist, but you can taste each and every one. If you mix this right, you can taste lime, absinthe, and vodka. You don’t want this ice, ice cold because that would meld the flavors together, anchoring them to one taste. You want it cold, though, to allow the flavors of each ingredient to pop out. Some drinks are meant to be this way. Not every recipe has to have the same outcome, and, sometimes, we need to allow us to update our repertoire of techniques.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 part Smoke Lab Vodka
1/4 part Rodnik’s Absinthe
1/2 lime, for juice, plus wedge for garnish
Directions:
Add a large, square ice cube to a tumbler. Add lime juice, absinthe, and vodka. Stir for about thirty seconds with the back of a bar spoon, until cold but not ice cold. Consume immediately.
